A quick jaunt from Columbia Point Resort, lies four of the region's most breathtaking natural wonders: Colville National Forest, Sherman Creek State Wildlife Recreation Area, Little Pend Orelle National Wildlife Refuge, and the Sherman Pass Scenic Byway. The area is home to  a large population of deer, turkey, black bear, elk and moose, and is bordered by many rivers and lakes.

 

Perfect your swing at the Spokane Walleye Club and Dominion Meadows Golf Course. Relax after a full day of outdoor activities, check out local shopping, or even try your luck at the Chewelah Casino.

Tucked in the northeastern corner of the evergreen state, Colville National Forest encompasses 1.1 million acres of stunning landscapes, and is bordered by the Okanogan and Kaniksu National Forests. This wonderland contains the Kettle and Columbia rivers, as well as the fabled Okanogan,and Selkirk mountain ranges.

Sherman Creek State Wildlife Recreation Area

Pro Tip: Look out for whitetail deer, mule deer, bald eagles, turkeys, waterfowl and songbirds as you explore the popular Sherman Point Loop

Little Pend OreIlle National Wildlife Refuge

Hidden between the foothills of the Cascades and the Rocky Mountains, this unique, forested, mountainous Refuge provides habitat for large mammals like bear, cougar, deer, elk and moose as well as over 200 migratory songbirds.

Sherman Pass Scenic Byway

Sherman Pass Scenic Byway is a 35.3 mile point-to-point trail located near Republic, Washington that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for scenic driving and is accessible year-round.

  • Governor's Cup Walleye (fishing) Tournament held the last weekend in June at the Kettle Falls Marina.

  • Kettle Falls Town & Country Days held the first weekend in June

  • Republic Prospector Days held the second weekend in June.

  • Colville Panorama Pro-West Rodeo held in June on Father's Day weekend.

  • Kettle River Bluegrass Festival usually held the last weekend in June.

 

July

  • Spokane Walleye Tournament (also known as Washington State Walleye Championship Tournament) is held the last weekend in July at the Kettle Falls Marina.

  • Chewelah Chataqua Days held the second full weekend in July

  • Rock Cut Blues Festival held the last weekend in July at the Rock Cut Campground.

 

August

  • Lake Roosevelt Summertime Music Festival. Free family music concert is held the second Saturday in August in the Marcus Community Park.

 

 October

  • Marcus Cider Fest. In early October, the Cider Fest is held in the Marcus Community Park.
